  13. I am trying to setup my system so I can read/post news from home.  Here is the current situation:

  15. a)mNews works great as a reader and was trivial to setup but the posting
  16. features have not been written yet

  18. b)GRN has both read/post capabilities and I was able to get it running using
  19. UUCP but I am now using TCP/IP-PPP for my connection and have been unable to 
  20. get GRN to work.  It starts and I select subscribe and it goes into a loop
  21. saying contacting NewsServer but it never comes back. There does not seem to
  22. be any error messages nor DEBUG info to let me know what is going on.
  23. I ran SNOOPDOS to try to figure out if variables were not being set but it
  24. seems they are.  My main question is for PPP what do I put as the device?
  25. Is it DEVS:NETWORK/ppp.device with UNIT=0 or do I use device=serial.device, or
  26. should it be something else?

  28. Is there anyway to turn a DEBUG mode on to tell me what the software is trying
  29. to do?  Also for the NNTPuserid and NNTPpasswd what should those values be set
  30. to?  For mNews I did not have to define them and it worked perfectly.

  32. In mNews I only had to set:
  33. userid,username,NNTPserver,domainname,hostname,and maybe a path variable to get
  34. it to work.  I assume GRN is more complicated because it can be used through
  35. UUCP,TCP/IP via ethernet/SLIP/PPP and possible a few other methods.

  37. Please send me any ideas as to what I may be setting up wrong or how I can
  38. figure out this problem.
